Chester Harley-Davidson’s V-Rod Destroyer hits the strip in 6.35 seconds!
Chester Harley-Davidson, Cheshire’s only authorised Harley-Davidson dealer, had a great weekend racing at the Ramsey Sprint on the Isle of Man with its new Harley-Davidson VRXSE Screamin' Eagle V-Rod Destroyer.
Local rider Phil Wood was riding the production Harley-Davidson drag-racing machine which has a 1300cc V-Twin Revolution liquid-cooled racing engine. This 165bhp professional level drag-racing motorcycle is designed exclusively for competition by Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations and is only available to racers through Harley-Davidson dealerships. A limited production run means these awesome machines are extremely rare.
Spectators at the Isle of Man’s Ramsey Sprint witnessed Phil and the Destroyer blasting up the 1/8th mile strip in a blistering 6.35seconds, which is impressive but even more so considering this was its first event for Chester Harley-Davidson.
Phil already has an extremely successful drag racing history, and has set a number of track records up and down the country. The Destroyer performed flawlessly during the Isle of Man’s fiercely contested event and Phil managed to secure a first place in the Unlimited Class and a sixth place overall.
Kirk Herbert, dealer principal of Chester Harley-Davidson, comments: “It’s fantastic to come away from our first race with a trophy. We were using this event to set the bike up so there is definitely a lot more to come in the future. “Phil did a great job and was up against some tough opposition, including several bikes with over 600 horsepower! All of the team are really looking forward to the next event.”
The Chester Harley-Davidson team follow in the footsteps of America’s Andrew Hines, who clinched his second consecutive National Hot Rod Association championship victory in the USA last year on his Harley-Davidson V-Rod drag-racer. The new VRXSE Screamin' Eagle V-Rod Destroyer takes its engineering and styling cues from that multi-championship winning drag-racer.
