Barbersride 2018, a Harley-Davidson UK & Ireland supported rideout by a team of international barbers collecting donations for charity, completed its fund raising route around the UK with a cheque presentation to Alder Hey, Liverpool. The donated figure was a massive £10,000 and was graciously received by Alder Hey staff representing Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Another appointed Barbersride charity to benefit from Barbersride 2018 is Guerilla Barbering – an international collective of barbers dedicated to aiding the homeless and less fortunate.
For Barbersride 2018, a team of motorcycle riding barbers and guests from across the globe covered a five day A and B-road route that included evening stopovers at five Harley-Davidson® Dealerships, where the riding barbers and guest local barbers undertook haircutting workshops and fund-raising haircuts during after-event parties held at the supporting dealers’ premises.
The route by Barbersride 2018 covered over 900 miles and took in six of our fellow Harley-Davidson® dealerships, starting out on Sunday 5th August at Bowker Harley-Davidson® (Preston) followed by stopover events at HarleyWorld Chesterfield, Newmarket Harley-Davidson®, Shaw Harley-Davidson®, Riders of Bridgwater and finally Chester Harley-Davidson®.
For each of the stopovers, the host dealers ensured a good time was had by the Barbersride team, support staff and attending customers and fans of Harley-Davidson. Music, food and refreshments meant each night delivered a special social event – made better by donations and entry money for a raffle to win a Harley-Davidson® leather riding jacket donated by Harley-Davidson UK & Ireland as part of its continued association with Barbersride.
Talking about the success of Barbersride 2018, Steven Colling, Marketing Manager Harley-Davidson UK & Ireland said: “Once again the association between Barbersride and Harley-Davidson has produced a fantastic result in the form of a very large donation to a very worthy cause. We would like to thank the Barbersride team, our dealerships and their staff for all their assistance, and all the people who made donations large or small for making the second year of Barbersride such a brilliant event.”
